Faux Stone Fireplace Panels

A stone fireplace is the classic way to anchor a room. It is also one of the most expensive walls to build in real stone. Tritan BP panels give you the stacked-stone look in lightweight polyurethane. A panel weighs about 8 pounds, cuts with a standard saw and goes up with construction adhesive and screws. There is no mortar, and no mason to schedule.

This works well for the wall around a fireplace, a full floor-to-ceiling fireplace wall, or a surround where the heat source is set well back. A 5 ft by 8 ft surround takes about six panels, and our wall cost guide walks through the numbers. For your own wall, the calculator gives you the count with an allowance for cuts.
Heat is the limit, so read this part carefully. The panels are good for about 300 degrees F at most. Never install them where the fireplace, stove or firebox maker requires fireproof or fire shield material, and never where there is an open flame. Even Class A is not a fire shield or a heat shield. Always follow the appliance maker’s clearances and your local code, and call us before you install if you are in any doubt.
Tips before you start
Check your appliance manual first
Clearances are set by the fireplace, stove or firebox manufacturer and by local code. They apply no matter which panel you choose.
Keep panels away from direct flame
Use panels on the wall around the fireplace, not inside the firebox or anywhere an open flame can reach them.
Class A is a surface rating
Class A fire rated (ASTM E84) options are available on select products. It does not mean fireproof, and it does not change a required clearance. See what Class A means.
Add a mantel
Faux fireplace mantels are available to finish the wall. Mantels are custom-made, so check the product page for details before you order.
Finish the corners
Outside corners and ledge trim give the surround clean edges. Matching caulking covers the seams you cut.
