Faux Stone Panels for a Backyard Studio

A backyard studio, garden room or shed is a small building, so the cladding matters a lot. Real stone is too heavy for most of them and needs a footing the building does not have. Tritan BP panels are lightweight polyurethane, about 8 pounds a panel, so they suit a small structure. They cut with a standard saw and go up with construction adhesive and screws. No mortar, no footing, no scaffolding.
Prefer a brick look? Our brick panels work for this project too.

Our faux stone collections are rated for exterior use. So are Aged Brick, British Brick, Cottage Lane and the full concrete collection. Install them over a solid, flat surface such as plywood or OSB sheathing. A small studio wall is a good weekend project, and you can plan the whole job from your measurements. Enter each wall in the calculator and add them together.
The panels are decorative. They go over the building’s weather-resisting layer, they do not replace it, and they do not replace anything your local code requires. Sun will fade them slowly like everything outdoors, and a light UV-protective topcoat every few years keeps the color close to where it started. Stick-A-Stone is interior only, so use it inside the studio, not on the outside walls.
Tips before you start
Check the sheathing
Plywood or OSB sheathing works well. It needs to be sound, dry and flat before the first panel goes on.
Plan the weather layer
Panels go over the weather-resisting layer. They do not replace it. Follow local code for the structure.
Measure each wall separately
Enter every wall in the calculator, take out doors and windows, and you get a count with an allowance for cuts.
Mix materials on purpose
Stone on the base and a different collection above, or brick on the front wall, can give a small building real character. Order samples to compare in daylight.
Order it all at once
Pigments are applied by hand, so a later batch may not match the first.
Finish the edges
Outside corners and ledge trim give clean edges, and matching caulking covers seams you cut.
