Faux Brick Panels for a Bar or Kitchen Island

The front of a bar or kitchen island is a small, very visible surface, and brick is a favorite for it. Real brick or thin brick means mortar, grout, drying time and a mess in the middle of the house. Tritan BP brick panels are lightweight polyurethane. A panel weighs about 8 pounds, cuts with a standard saw and goes up with construction adhesive and screws. There is no mortar, and no waiting for it to cure.

We make three brick collections. They are Aged Brick, British Brick and Cottage Lane. All three are rated for exterior use, so they also work on an outdoor bar or a patio kitchen. For a small area such as an island, the panels cover about 6.4 to 7 square feet each, so a few panels often go a long way.
Measure the front and any returns, enter them in the calculator and it gives you a count with an allowance for cuts. Order samples of the brick colors and hold them up under your own lights and next to your countertop. Brick reads very differently under warm kitchen lighting than it does on a screen.
Tips before you start
Start with a solid, flat face
Plywood, cement board and other solid, clean, flat surfaces work. Panels follow whatever is behind them.
Plan the corners
Brick corners show. Matching outside corners give a clean finish where the island turns.
Mind the counter edge
Use matching caulking for seams you cut, and finish the top edge cleanly where the panel meets the counter.
Peel-and-stick option
Stick-A-Stone is a peel-and-stick stone panel for interior walls, backsplashes and similar areas. It is stone, not brick. Check the product page.
Order it all at once
Pigments are applied by hand, so a later batch may not match the first.
Keep heat away
The panels are good for about 300 degrees F at most. Keep them away from direct flame and follow appliance clearances.
